Sunday, December 2
9 AM – 4 PM: Registration and check-in, Black Bear Lodge, Stratton Mountain. Skiing, riding and snowshoeing at Stratton Mountain Resort.
4 PM – 5 PM: Registration Stratton Mountain Club
4:30 – 5: Additional shuttle to Stratton Mountain Club
5 – 6 PM: Session: “How To Dress for Cold Temperatures”, a live presentation by Stan Kosmider, The North Face, at the Stratton Mountain Club.
6 – 8 PM: Reception: Stratton Mountain Club, shuttles provided from Black Bear Inn
6 PM: Remarks from Stratton president plus keynote speakers, observers Ian Bailey and Adam Gill from the Mount Washington Observatory speak about “world’s worst weather” with a live summit SKYPE feed and mountain forecasting.
7:30 – 8:30 PM: Additional shuttle to Village and Black Bear Lodge
7:30 – 9 AM: Breakfast – activities info update.
8:15 – 9AM: Additional Shuttle from BBL to Village Rentals and SMC
9 AM – Noon: Skiing, riding and snowshoeing at Stratton Mountain Resort.
9 AM – Noon: Prinoth Cabin Cat rides for media.
9 AM – Noon: On-snow station activities.
9 AM – Noon: “Handling Adverse Driving Conditions” with O’Neil Driving School (reserve in advance),snow-covered lot, Sun Bowl.
10 AM & 10:30 AM: “The Science of Snowmaking,” with Stratton snowmaking, outside Club with HKD and Kevin Booth.
11 AM & 11:30 AM: “The Art of Grooming,” snow farming and Snowcat tours, on closed trail.
11 AM: Snowshoe tour (location near Club) with Dion snowshoe representative, Vermont Lt. Governor and other participants – meet at SMC Timber Hall at 10:45
12:30 PM: Luncheon, Stratton Mountain Club, with Mountain Travel Symposium brief, O’Neil Driving School presentation.
2 PM: “Social Media and Digital on Weather and Snow Reporting,” discussion. Panelists: New England Skywatch Weather, Neal Estano, WNYT, West River Weather Guy, aka Chris Blackey.
3 PM: “Ski Area Efforts for Sustainable Energy,” sponsored by the National Ski Areas Association. An overview of NSAA’s “Climate Challenge Program.” Panelists: Jiminy Peak, Killington/Pico, ORDA, Efficiency Vermont, Sugarbush.
3:30-5 PM: Live weather feeds: Meteorologists report on early season skiing.
7-10 PM: Dine Around
